ITV are really pushing the boat out with promoting Red Eye, with a full front cover ad on the Observer Magazine today.

See ITV1 are launching ITV Studio Sessions - a rare music show for the main channel and rare post-news commission, though looks like it's advertiser funded by O2.

If ITV wanted to really push Red Eye, they would have proper new lead in shows in the schedule before it, instead of hurling repeats of game shows as a lead in which will not help Red Eye.

Which makes ot even more surprising the lead in is so poor on ITV1, even if the gocus is more on ITVX.

In all honesty ITV are still paying the price for pulling the soaps from Sunday nights in the late noughties. They used to be unbeatable on Sunday nights but they handed away that advantage.

I think Corrie on Sunday would be a welcome addition, although there could be concerns around four hours a week of the same show. Mind you, I feel a Sunday Emmerdale would probably be even more problematic as that would bring it to six days a week.

This has got to be ITV's first effort in music content since iTunes Festival back in 2011, interesting that they got Clara Amfo from TOTP to host the new series. There aren't many music shows on TV due to music licencing (being one of many reasons why they rarely get made)

It's nice to see music on ITV other than Capital's balls.

In fact, it's nice to see music on the terrestrial channels in general. Even with the BBC's blanket licence, it seems to be getting a bit sparse, apart from Jools Holland, but that's starting to seem slightly long in the tooth these days.

It always surprises me somewhat that given the lack of post-news/post-Newsnight commissions these days that the BBC don't just throw out the Radio 1 Live Lounge and Radio 2 Piano Room sessions in those slots given that they all seem to be filmed these days anyway (or even somewhere on BBC3 for the Radio 1 stuff!)

They do the odd compilation episode or loop them on the red button but agree they could do much more with them.

Do you work for the BBC’s scheduling department?
